A Doctor Who Reccing Community

First up, a Torchwood vid for the monthly "spin-off" theme, basically the exact opposite (in tone and theme) of the SJA fic I recced yesterday:

Reasons for reccing: "Children of Earth" was when Torchwood dropped its camp half for five episodes and got even darker than before. Lots of things happened to the regular team, but the guy who stole the story for me? John Frobisher, played by Peter Capaldi. This vid captures his character's journey all the way to the catastrophic ending.

Followed by an antidote to the darkness - a vid centered on the Tenth Doctor Era Companions (for my seasonal challenge) framed as a Torchwood file and with comic-relief cameos by Jack and the Torchwood crew:

Reasons for reccing: This is what happens when a brilliant vidder like obsessive24 only has access to a bootlegged version of the song wanted for the vid - and then comes up with a hilarious way of using the random voiceover, i.e. adding a meta frame, in this case Jack Harkness accessing a Torchwood File on the Doctor's companions (for obsessive24's explanation see the livejournal link included below). The initial vid idea for all the companions already makes a great vid on its own, but the random Jack voiceovers add some hilarity. The editing is spectacular and I really like that it ends on the "flying the earth home" bit of "Journey's End", which goes beautifully with the "never been this far away from home" line of the song.
